Fire Door Inspection Services
Fire doors are not just doors within your building but essential safety items that can save life and limit loss or damage. They are designed to slow the spread of fire through a building, keeping occupants and evacuation routes safe. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states the Responsible Person for non-domestic buildings must ensure fire doors and frames are correctly installed and maintained to ensure that they are capable of preventing the spread of fire. Having a qualified professional undertake a comprehensive fire door inspection gives you peace of mind, and allows building managers to form a clear action plan to resolve any issues.
The inspection will involve surveying each door set, including all associated fire door accessories such as hinges, glazing, closers and ironmongery with any defects or recommendations being detailed in a full fire door report.
I provide 3 basic types of inspection, but inspections can be tailored to your specific requirements and budget.
- Type A Inspection: For newly installed fire doors.
- Aimed at checking the compliance of fire doors in new or refurbished buildings.
- The inspection creates a snagging list for building contractors prior to sign off.
- Confirms if recently fitted fire doors meet the relevant standards.
- Invasive inspection done during the installation phase to check gap filler and intumescent protection. Quicker, more cost effective and less damaging than carrying out retrospectively.
- Ensures installation and fittings meet the manufacturers specification.
- Eliminates incurring additional costs at a later date if any work in non-compliant.
- Creates a snagging list for building contractors prior to hand over/sign off.
Please note: This type of inspection will not re-certify your doors – certification has to be done by the installer once any issues raised during the inspection have been rectified.
- Type B Inspection: Inspection of existing fire doors with little or no evidence of performance.
- Ideal for buildings where fire doors were installed some time ago, where little or no information exists.
- Choose between intrusive and non-intrusive inspection.
- Type C Inspection: Maintenance inspection for recently compliant doors.
- Ensures compliance is maintained for fire doors that have documentation and have been regularly maintained.
- Maintains compliance with FSO, articles 17 & 18.
- Confirms the functionality of the door.
